Private Drivers in Ubud

Bali’s cultural heart: rice terraces, temples, and jungle villages best reached with a local driver.

Ubud is where most visitors fall in love with inland Bali. Set in Gianyar among coconut groves and carved stone temples, the town is the island’s centre for dance, painting, and the slow ritual of daily offerings. It is also the best base for day trips that a scooter simply cannot cover comfortably: Tirta Empul, Goa Gajah, the Tegalalang rice terraces, and the mountain roads toward Kintamani.

The royal palace (Puri Saren Agung) still anchors the main street, while the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary sits a short walk south. Campuhan Ridge Walk is a cooler morning option before the heat builds. Further out, water palaces, coffee farms, and artisan villages around Mas and Celuk reward an early start with a driver who already knows which temples need a sarong and which parking lots fill by 10 a.m.

Traffic on the Campuhan and Monkey Forest roads can stall for long stretches in high season. That is why a private car matters here. You can leave bags in the vehicle, skip the hunt for parking, and chain several stops into one day without backtracking through town. Ask your driver for a temple-first morning and a craft-village afternoon, or a quieter loop through rice fields when you want fewer crowds.

Book a local Ubud driver or guide on Locals of Bali and message them on WhatsApp to lock in pickup from your hotel or villa. You talk price and timing direct — no checkout, no commission layer.
